About Hoffman Chiropractics San Diego
Dr. Kevin Hoffman
I remember talking to people while in college who told me these incredible stories about how chiropractic changed their lives. They went to a variety of medical doctors, physical therapists, podiatrists and trainers and no one could help them. The only relief and help they received was from a chiropractor. I thought wow! What is so special about chiropractic that restored these peoples health and vitality.
I was always interested in health care and the idea of the body’s ability to heal itself. I was in the process of applying to colleges to get a masters degree in physical therapy. I was looking forward to opening up my own clinic and working with people to help them with their injuries. I then decided to see what chiropractic was all about. I started observing different clinics. I was amazed at what I saw. Peoples lives were being restored. All these people who were unable to be helped by traditional allopathic medicine were now brought back to health with chiropractic. I realized at that point that chiropractic was truly health care and not sick care. It was then and there that I decided to go into chiropractic and help as many people as I could.
We outline a specific care program custom made for each person. We emphasize spinal corrective care with the goal of correcting and preventing misalignments in the spine and returning health and vitality to each and every practice member. We also work with other influencing aspects of peoples lives. Posture, nutrition, exercise, orthotics work place environment as well as sleeping postures. We realize our lives are constantly under the influence of a variety of stresses. We help people manage physical, emotional and chemical stresses as they influence the body. All the people who have come into the office and were skeptical and were trying chiropractic as a last resort always comment that they wish they had come in sooner.
I did my undergraduate studies at San Diego State University and majored in recreation rehabilitation with a minor in psychology. I then applied and was accepted to Palmer Chiropractic College – West. I wanted to go to Palmer College because it was the first chiropractic college and that is where it all began.
During college I was a little overwhelmed at the intensive schedule. You essentially take twice the amount of units you would at a regular university. In fact, our education is comparable to medical students; we take a lot of the same type of classes. These include anatomy, physiology, physics, chemistry, diagnosis and many others. We also study x-ray. We learn to take and read our own x-rays which isn’t taught in medical school — that’s considered a speciality.
I have always eaten healthy (yes, even in college) and taken supplements. I have always exercised and keep myself in good shape. People typically think I’m about 10 years younger than I really am. I tell them I started practicing when I was 15. My family follows suit and are healthy and active.
I am married to Cheri and we have three kids. All of my kids are active in sports and San Diego community activities. None of them has ever been vaccinated or taken any medications of any type, including antibiotics. Our family loves outdoor activities especially going to the beach.
